A Kiana Lodge Wedding Photographer is able to experience the natural elegance of a venue that is only a short ferry ride away from Seattle, Washington. The wedding of Nic and Michi took place on a beautiful summer day in 2010 on Bainbridge Island, where Kiana Lodge is located. As the Kiana Lodge Wedding Photographer for this wedding event, I captured this image of Nic before the start of the wedding ceremony. In the picture, Nic is sitting in the lodge waiting calmly for the event’s of the day to begin. The lighting in the setting of the room is dimly lit, with only the gleam of sun and a single lamp illuminating the scene. Behind the groom the large window that lets the sun into the space also allows for a glimpse of the magnificent natural views outside the lodge. The wall behind Nic is fashioned like that of an old log cabin, adding to the rustic appeal of Kiana Lodge. The floors are the same dark redwood color of the walls, polished and shining under the attention of the sunlight. The photo was taken with the door only partially open, giving the impression that this is a candid moment. Nic appears to sit in an almost meditative state, reflecting on the journey he and Michi have taken to make it to this magical day. He stares straight ahead, but his attention is not on anything that he physically sees before him. Nic sees the future he and Michi have chosen for themselves, one that they are taking their first step towards today when they will stand before their loved ones to become husband and wife.
