As an Orthodox Jewish Wedding Photographer New York, I am able to witness beautiful ceremonies that are filled with tradition, ritual, and love. Being an Orthodox Jewish Wedding Photographer New York, I captured the incredible events that encompassed the wedding day of Daniella and Sam. Daniella and Sam were married in an intimate ceremony which took place on the property of Daniella’s father just outside of Philadelphia on August 19, 2010. In this black and white photograph from the couple’s special day, some of the male guests look on as a rabbi prepares for the ceremony. In the picture the rabbi sits outside in the yard at Daniella’s family’s home, at a table drawing up the ketubah - the marriage contract. This contract testifies that the husband guarantees that he will fulfill the needs of his wife. The contract is not meant to be a religious document; it is a document that states the duties of a husband and the rights of a wife in a marriage, as deemed appropriate by a group of chosen witnesses. In this image, the black and white coloring demonstrates the solemnity of this moment, while the smiles on the face of each man pictured demonstrates how joy-filled the day was in its entirety. An Orthodox Jewish wedding is an event that is overflowing with happiness and it is awash in rituals that make the day one that will live on in the memories of the couple and their loved ones for years to come.
