A Watch Hill Wedding is set in an affluent coastal village in the town of Westerly, Rhode Island. The most prominent venue for a Watch Hill Wedding is the Ocean House, an iconic New England resort. Ocean House first opened in 1868, just after the Civil War, and is perched high on the bluffs of Watch Hill. The property offers 13 acres of gorgeous oceanfront landscape that overlooks a private beach. From the property one is able to take in views of Montauk, Block Island and the Atlantic Ocean. Since its opening, Ocean House has become famous for this view of the Atlantic and for its warm yellow facade. For 135 years, the hotel has welcomed guests and conveys the the romance of its storied past and the rich character of Watch Hill location. This photograph, taken on the venue’s private beach, is like a postcard for a perfect Rhode Island wedding celebration. To capture this image, the couple and I took a stroll along the shore, with the couple walking ahead of me so that I could take candid pictures of the pair and give them a little bit of privacy. The gray-blue sky was painted with clouds, as waves rolled in to kiss the shore. The bride and groom held hands as they walked forward on the sand, and wind gently blowing the groom’s suit jacket and the skirt of the bride’s gown. The groom wears a dark gray suit, and the bride a beautiful princess-like gown. The skirt of the gown is made up of layers of tulle, with a pale pink bow tied about the bride’s waist. The bride looks ahead at the scene before her, but her soon-to-be husband has eyes only for her.
